When I called the Health Insurance Exchange number that’s listed on healthcare.gov website to get a quote for my 25-year-old son in SC last night I was told quotes are not given over the phone, and that he has to call — not me. The only reason I called was because the SC site was still inoperable.
There is a process to doing an application over the phone. Information is taken and then it’s mailed out for a signature by the applicant, who then mails it back to the Exchange. Where does it go from there? How long will it take before the applicant can call back to get the quote? No idea. So far I’m unimpressed and a little disappointed.
